A Reflection on Chris Berglund’s Teaching | The Gathering, Colorado Springs
This past Sunday at The Gathering in Colorado Springs, Chris Berglund walked us through an astonishing revelation: everything God requires of us, He first plants within us. Christ Himself is the seed—and the blueprint—already sown into the soil of our hearts, waiting to grow into a corporate expression of His life.
For those seeking a church in Colorado Springs deeply rooted in Scripture, presence, and the indwelling life of Christ, this message is for you.
Chris began by tracing the feasts and sacrificial patterns of the Old Testament—not as outdated rituals, but as profound shadows of Christ. From Passover to Pentecost to Tabernacles, these ancient appointments are not merely historical—they are eternal. They speak to the work of Christ: His death, burial, resurrection, and the ongoing invitation to union.
“We’re not just studying the feasts to know more about Jesus,” Chris said. “We’re asking: What part of Christ’s life do You want to live through me?”
This shift—from knowledge to embodiment—is the invitation of the Gospel. Every shadow finds its substance in Him, and every feast points to the indwelling presence of the Son in us.
So often we’ve heard grace defined as “the empowering presence of God.” But Chris challenged us to see grace not as something we try to access from the outside, but as the very life of Jesus within.
The law required something of Adam that he could not produce. But grace—real grace—provides what it requires. In Christ, we’ve been given the life, the righteousness, the holiness of God Himself. Our job is not to manufacture anything but to return to God what He has already planted.
“He’s not looking for our best,” Chris said. “He’s looking for His Son.”
Using parables and dreams, Chris reminded us that the seed of Christ’s life is never meant to return unchanged. It must increase. Like the parable of the talents, God is not glorified by a people who bury the gift of His life. He’s glorified when that life multiplies—when it becomes corporate.
Whether in ancient feasts or modern communion, the pattern remains: death, burial, resurrection, and ascension into shared life.
“He gave us His Son. He’s looking for the fullness of that Son in return.”
One of the most powerful moments came as Chris unpacked the meaning of Pentecost—not just as an event in Acts 2, but as an eternal invitation. In the Spirit, we are continually invited up the mountain, into union with Christ.
Wind, fire, breath, voice. We are the new tabernacle. We are the people of His presence. And Pentecost, like all the feasts, is not about a date on the calendar—it’s about a life that keeps increasing.
“We don’t have to offer Adam anymore. We offer Christ. That’s what communion is: returning the Son.”
At The Gathering, our vision isn’t just to build a church—it’s to be the corporate expression of Jesus in Colorado Springs. We believe revival doesn’t start with numbers but with the increase of His life. That’s why we gather. That’s why we pray. That’s why we wait.
We’re learning to see one another not according to the flesh, but as part of the same body. One new man. One resurrected life. One forest grown from the same seed.
“He’s not coming back for individual brilliance. He’s coming for a body filled with glory.”
