Message by Chris Berglund
At The Gathering in Colorado Springs, we are learning together what it means to live from the finished work of the cross. On Sunday, Chris Berglund shared a powerful message on faith’s vision — the call to see reality through the eyes of Christ, rather than through the lens of fear, discouragement, or opposition.
2 Corinthians 5:7
For we walk by faith, not by sight.
Chris began with a dream that pointed to a “boundary of blood” — the line drawn by covenant that separates life from death, victory from defeat. From the Passover lamb in Exodus, to Rahab’s scarlet cord, to the cross of Jesus, we see this theme woven throughout Scripture.
The cross is the ultimate boundary line. At the shedding of Jesus’ blood, sin and death were decisively conquered. As Chris reminded us: “The boundary of blood is established by blood, but enforced by words.”
Just as David declared God’s covenant before striking Goliath, we too enforce Christ’s victory by declaring, “It is finished.”
Chris also shared stories of seemingly hidden men and women of faith — Edward Kimball, William Leslie, David Livingstone — people who sowed faithfully in obedience, often without seeing fruit in their lifetime. Yet generations later, their covenant obedience bore unimaginable fruit: D.L. Moody, Billy Graham, and entire tribes coming to Christ.
These stories remind us: what matters is not how large our impact looks in the moment, but whether we remain faithful to the covenant word God has spoken to us.
We are continually confronted with challenges — in our families, our health, our finances, our city. But those circumstances are not the truest reality. Faith is seeing all things as Christ sees them.
Chris challenged us: “We only waver if we believe but are not yet established in faith. Once you’ve seen through His eyes, it becomes a done deal.”
Just as parents apply the blood over their homes at Passover, we are invited to see our children, our families, and our community through the boundary line of Christ’s finished work.
The takeaway for us in Colorado Springs is simple but weighty:
1 Peter 3:18 (Mirror Bible)
Christ died once and for all in order to conclusively separate you from a distorted identity. Thus restored righteousness triumphed beyond the reach of any identity not in sync with innocence and oneness.
